Love those F8s, especially the one with the Fortress nose.
The Korea one will be a C60X.

Korea I'd guess. The 2 Chaffey tanks would be the give-away as although the Yanks had them in 1944 in Europe I don't think that there were any in the Islands with the Aussies.
The first M-24s reached American armored units in November 1944 and served throughout the European theater until the end of the war. British forces also received the new M-24, although in nowhere near the numbers of either the M-3 or M-5, and named it after General Adna R. Chaffee, the first commander of the United States armored forces. The United States subsequently adopted the name. (Thanks Google).

Good on you Cliff, I forgot about them. Your probably right, The terrain looks like Qld or somewhere up north.
What sort of artillery was inuse in that photo? Plenty of cardboard casings on the ground on the right. Rick

This is a photograph of 3 Squadron RAAF Mustangs in Italy near the end of the war.
3 Squadron used a number of CMP Fords, mainly F15 and F60L versions. ![]()

My guess would be Korea as I believe the tanks are M26/46 Pershings and not M24s.

Keith, interesting picture! I wonder if this is Arromanches though, as the Arromanches boulevard is (and was) known for it's sea wall. Could well be a village next to Arromanches for that matter, maybe Saint-Come-de-Fresne(?)

Hi Alex,
Have to agree on this one with you Alex, and I've just realised it actually reads, near Arromanches, which as you suggest is just down the coastline. Just shows how busy the beach area was post D.Day Regards Keith |

![]() Keith, Both F8 photos are of the same vehicle, you can see the nose cone in the top photo as well. Rick.
