Default According to me only one number difference....

Hi Howard

That is the extent of my Jeep knowledge....... guys like Don Dingwall, Eric Booth, Jim Fraser, etc....... could identify a jeep bolt at 100 yards but not me...... I am knee deep in rusted old CMPs...... the Chevy kind !!!!

Default Trailer..............

To Bob Carrier:

Re: found trailer....

I got a chance to see the trailer we talked about the other day. I am pretty sure that it is military. Under the yellow paint, I can see the distinctive army green. The tail-gate along with the two sides fold down. There are also 2x4 openings on the sides to hold frames for a roof.... Next time I bring a camera.

PS: Don't tell anyone

Default Old family pictures..... with CMP.

Some months ago while visiting Joyce's family in Grimsby I had an opportunity to see an old familay photo album of the MANN family.

I was surprised to see the attached two old photos and made comments about them. Well when the Xmas cards arrived this year someone had taken the time to reproduce and enlarge the two photos.

I have scanned them but now have questions....comments.

These were taken by the brother of my mother-in-law Bryan Mann....chap in the picture was his friend. The F30 cab 11 or 12 was taken in the interior of BC during training exercises.

Observations..... canvass is the general purpose oversize canvass folded over each end the rear seems to be folded over as a double layer leaving the rear open for access. The truck has NO roof hatch. Number plate seems to read 65.

The second picture of the F15a is also interesting.

Observations......Question for Clive... the head gear seems out of place for 1942 or 43....

I suspect the picture was taken out in the mid west somewhere??
Could not make out the number on the door...

Interesting canvass cover..... has the copper mesh (assumption) side and rear windows. These fitted canvas cover have the straps that allows the sides to be rolled up and tied back...leaving a canvas cover and open sides.
The tarp has the early tie down of leather straps that are pressed on those capsan shaped protusion of early cargo boxes.

A number so similar F15a are visile in the background.

Amazing what can be found in the strangest places....

Enjoy

Bob
