F15A brake lines

This subject has come up before, but I decided to post my findings here for your instruction and entertainment.

Please let me know how this compares with your findings for both Ford and Chevrolet.

First I had a close look at the maintenance manual and spare parts list:

“Old location” (fig. 1):

Rear: metal brake line (p/n 91A-2269) running from master brake cylinder (p/n 91T-2140) to rear of chassis, flexible hose (p/n *C01Q-2078) from chassis to rear axle, metal brake lines (p/n 91A-2269) run from connector (p/n 01T-2074-A) to rear wheel brake cylinders (p/n (C) 91T-2261). Note the flexible hose is fitted to chassis bracket (p/n 01T-2073) with the use of a clip (p/n 78-2814-A).

Front: metal brake lines (p/n 91A-2269) running from master brake cylinder (p/n 91T-2140) along left and right frame channels above front axle, flexible hose (p/n *C01Q-2079) from chassis to front wheel brake cylinders (p/n C91T-2261).

I suspect this setup was taken over from the 2-wheel drive F15 to the 4-wheel drive F15A, and later relocated to the setup described below as it better suits a front drive axle.

“New location” (fig. 2):

Rear: metal brake line (p/n *C011QF-2265, length 87-13/16”) running from master brake cylinder to rear of chassis, flexible hose (p/n *C01Q-2078) from chassis to rear axle, metal brake lines (right: p/n *C01Q-2267, length 46-7/16”; left: -2268, length 19-11/16”) run from connector (p/n 01T-2074-A) to rear wheel brake cylinders. Note the flexible hose is fitted to chassis bracket (p/n 01T-2073) with the use of a clip (p/n 78-2814-A).

Front: metal brake line (p/n 2234) running from master brake cylinder to front of chassis above front axle, flexible hose (p/n *C01Q-2079) from chassis to front axle, metal brake lines (right: p/n *C01QF-2263, length 54-3/8”; left: -2264, length 73-1/2”) run from connector to axle bracket (p/n *C11QF-2083). Flexible brake hose (p/n *C011D-2079-A, length 12-1/4”) connects to wheel brake cylinders. Note the flexible hose is fitted to axle bracket with the use of a clip (p/n 2814).

Secondly, I compared it with the setup on my F15A (built January 1943) which confirms to the configuration shown in fig.2:


Master brake cylinder with two brake lines:

My 1942 FGT is the same as your F15A (apart from the booster) while the 1942 F15 has lines to each front brake cylinder.

My F15A has the same configuration as the one in figure 2 (without the booster ) and has 1942 marked under the hood/bonnet .

I have recently made a full set of brake pipes for our F 15A. The parcel Contaning the brake Kits and Hoses was sent to the wrong adress (my home).
In 2 weeks I will have a week on the Blitz at Cootamindra. I intend to remove all the new pipes and fittings for cleaning, at the same time I will be making a second set for Tony Elliot's F60 which should be the same except for the pipe to the rear axle.
I will make notes and report here on my return.

See the last picture in my posting above (and attached below here again) for dimensions.

Yes, they are the same for all Ford CMPs.

There is a company from Argentina on ebay which sell brands new hoses for many vintage vehicles: https://www.ebay.com/str/LNF-BRAKES

I think this set would fit an F15A: https://www.ebay.com/itm/FORD-TRUCK-...7/362626618238

This would solve your problem of not being able to buy from abroad at the moment.

The pipes are 1/4 diameter? Now i have cooper lines...
