Thats the one all right. Eric: Do you know if the 3/4 ton is still there? As I recall his price was right, and it would almost be worth the long trip to recover it.

Hi Rob, yes that is the same one. The fella who owned them passed away awhile ago. I drove by there 2 weeks ago but the truck was gone. I heard his wife was selling all his things off. When I bought the carrier I asked him about the truck, he told me one price then next time i saw him and asked about it the price had doubled. I wasn't really interested enough in it to pay the price at that time. Now I kinda wish I would have got it, close the barn door after the horse is out kinda thing.

Hi Eric, regarding the tank hunter carrier you have there, I am trying at the moment to make the covers which go over the petrol tanks, i have noticed in your pictures of the tank hunter, it still has the angle iron pieces for supporting the covers still attached to the engine rails (long rails which run either side of the engine for supporting the engine cover assembly), I think someone has mounted the battery tray on the right hand side angle iron pieces on your tank hunter carrier. I need to know how the angle iron pieces differ from a standard mk1 carrier, if you have any photos of this area that would be great , many thanks kevin.

My wife is my spotter. She knows what to look for and might even have a better eagle eye than me. Probably because when we are out driving, I am driving watching the road and she is scanning the bushes for "junk".
So far she has spotted plenty of M series stuff, the typical dueces and M37 variants. I think she needs to look harder for carriers and cmps. ![]() On a side note, if you have a wife who is supportive of your hobby, it might be best to educate her on the value of stuff. This can work two ways, so take it for what its worth and then decide. 1) if you kick the bucket, at least your "junk" brings in honest money to the family or 2) if she leaves, at least she knows what your junk is worth when she takes half! I suppose it all depends on whether or not you want her to know. My last buy was my Manac 3/4 ton trailer. This was an easy one. We live rural and have to haul all or garbage to the local landfill. The backseat or trunk of her Honda won't do and my service truck is usually full of tools and equipment. She was the one that said to me that we needed a trailer. Didn't say what kind... It does help out though when I buy something, flip it and make some $$$ and point out this fact. Usually a nice dinner or a treat for her follows and it keeps things running smooth. Its all about the "smooth factor"

I have to agree with you Chris. I used the line on my wife about if I was to kick off, told her that the stuff is worth a bit and would be a bit more cash for her after the life insurance. She is getting better with my prizes now, she knows there are a lot that I would like to buy but don't. Plus I tell her it is all part of our canadian history and they don't make this stuff anymore. I just hate thinking of all the things that have been lost to the scrap yards. So till the day my name is on the big guy's calander I will keep looking for and bringing home whatever I can.
