By what I could see the trailers were all over the place for CFRs. Some were around the 16000 range, some were much higher. With the speed of searches here, it was impossible for me to find Brad's.

What I have noticed though, was that the CFRs (and serials somewhat) seemed to grouped together by where the trailer's were issued. So if you know from which base or area the trailer came from, it can be compared to other trailers from that area with a known CFR.

I bought 28 of these trailers from one unit and they were all pretty much in sequence CFR wise. Serials were reasonably tight, although they did span several hundreds overall.

Craig is right on the money about the 5, or possibly 3 digits. They were often grease pencilled under the license plate.
