Hi Martyn, That Carrier photo CD I sent you last year had some pics of a restored welded hull carrier on it, I remember seeing this odd looking carrier on a model making picture reference site. I posted you convoy bracket today.

Default confused?

ok now iam getting confused whats the diffrance between a mk1 no 2 and a mk1 no 3 welded hull, is a mk2 the same as a rivetted carrier with airboxes or or not could any one shed some light on this looked in nigels book not a lot of help on this one

The No.1, No2, No3. all refer to the size/model of Ford V8 motor.
I believe the Mark III refers to the Welded hull construction ( and the associated changes i.e. air ducting) introduced at the same time.
The Armoured O.P.(observation post)MarkIII, was by October 1942,identified as being an incorrect nomenclature, and was re designated as;
Armoured O.P. No. 1, Mark III (W)
they are essentially the same shape as a rivetted hull Mk1 (Same sand guards. No side steps,but altered to suit the A.O.P. role)
