It is driven by dogs, and a fibre coupling much like an old injector pump.The pulley is part of the fan extention assembly, and therefore the generator bearings carry no side loading, other than the weight of the armature.
There are not many English or Canadian carriers in Australia,and Aust. carriers use a different set up.

Thanks for that, I have not had anything to do with British or Canadian carriers, so have not seen one of these.
