Those look like Michelin XLs - I am told the three-block XL was unique to the Iltis. British Army Land Rovers are usually shod with the 4-block XLs. I'd like to put a set on my '82 ex-BATUS Series III some time.

The AVGP had 3 block, so did the HLVW,LSVW and the Iltis. They are a directional tire. When the ZXL came out, the fleet was set up with them. I just restored a Land Rover 90, and scrapped the 3 block for a set of non directional 4 block. I kept the best 3 block as a spare. I wish you had posted this 6 months ago, as I sent the tires to the dump.
