G'day Jeff and others, I am new to things CMP so bear with me. So it seems that windscreen frames and roof hatches are a problem area of CMP's doesn't anybody make them as reproduction parts? The reason I am asking is that my REO Speed Wagon needs new WIndscreen frames too and I was hoping that there was a manufacturer out there. Kind Regards Lionel |

New BRASS framing material is available, you make it to suit the hole, glass goes on inside " T " rubber around edge. contact in NSW is Peter Jackson, makes replacement panels.

Bob,
I, too, had the same problem with the wind screen when restoring my F8. Not being able to find anything already made up, my welder and made one by ourselves. We took square pipe, 1" by 1/2", and slit it down the 1" side making two pieces 1/2" by 1/2". Our job was a bit more difficult that yours might be in that we had to make an entire screen not two pieces. I'll admit it was not an easy job but it did come out well! I've attached some pictures of the end result. Best regards, Jim |

Bob, do you have any contact info for Peter. My window frames are rotte out and brass seems like a great idea.
Any idea on cost?

If it's the profile I think Bob is talking about it fairly closely resembles the windscreen frame used by Holden here in Australia for Chevrolet CMPs. it has a slightly curved front and back and although it is a good permanent substitute is not as wide as the original and consequently is not identical. It is also quite different to the Canadian frames which is flat with a small radius on the edges. The problem here with the genuine Holden profile is it was not very resistant to rust (unlike the Canadian ones) and consequently you see a lot of Chevs here with Canadian Ford frames. Remember in Australia Holden built the entire cab unlike Ford Australia. I believe the brass framing is a commonly available shower screen profile. Bob: if this isn't the one you're thinking about please disregard the above. ![]()
