I was prepping a flathead yesterday for installation in my carrier, and removed the oil filter assembly, as it wouldn't fit into the stock engine covers. I traced the return line on the filter to make sure it didn't supply the filtered oil to something important, and, as you mentioned, the return oil simply goes through a hole in the bottom of the block and into the pan.
My engine is a later 8BA engine (49-53). Your oil return may be located in a different spot. |

Are you talking about a real carrier engine or a automotive type?

Hi, Talking about a post war flathead, with the distributor coming out the side and the water pipes for the radiator out the front not the middle, however still has the two oil feed pipes coming out the top of the flywheel bellhousing going to the filter. same as jordans carrier engine.
