Well, I don't know if it's "won the pot",or, now its my problem.
I had a 12 cab Ford and gave it away to get rid of it. This will be a long term project and maybe light stone, instead of O.D. like the last one. Gord |

I am glad it is going to someone that will fix it up..... This truck has been on MLU before. Do you remember the cab 12 that was advertised in the OMVA than MLU.... also posted on EBay...... it is at least with the Rotters affectionately referred toas Ted's truck...... which I eventually purchased. Ted lives in Ajax and his friend lived somewhere in North York..... his friend actually owned the two Cab 12...... th eone I got was purchased by Ted who finally gave up the idea of rebuilding it..... at the time Ted's friend was diagnosed with colon cancer and wanted $2500 for that truck.... it was running 2 years ago but admitedly was smoking and running rough. Ted had approached Brian Gough hoping to find a buyer..... Brian and I had talked about it but the asking of $2500 was too much for what it had to offer. I am glad Gordon got the truck...... the box has some bad rust holes which makes it more appropriate for a model to copy than to repair.... Gord will have to fill us in before he fills the rust holes. Now Gordon...... you will need help somewhere along the way.... you know where to ask...... I have every intension of reproducing my 2B1 box in the near future....... if you are interested in joining in on the project let me know. Once I start getting parts cut to size and bent it would be very easy to have two sets of everything made....... I have my original cab 11 box and one I got from Doug Weatherstone whcih awas a complete cab 12 2B1 with drop side and tailgate.....sadly better used as a reverse engineering template than worth fixing...... Same applies for the tool box...... mine is good and the gauge of steel is so heavy you probably can save yours by some welding repairs...... In any event will hear from you I am sure. BooB

.....when I got my truck from Ted I believe I got some of the doghouse cover that came from your truck..... bent and full of extra holes...... which Ted intended to use in his project..... in any event they can be use to make templates to repro a doghouse for yours......

Thanks for the kind words, the info on the truck and the offer of technical support, I'm sure I will be in touch soon. I am suprised I managed to sneak in ahead of The Rotters, very suprised! I am not unfamiliar with the 12 cab truck, if you go to Soft Skins/15 CWT/ in the MLU vehicle section the first truck pictured is a 1942 12 cab Ford 15CWT at the Oshawa Museum. That was the first truck I restored 25 years ago, it was stripped to the frame and rebuilt, but then I didn't have the time and energy to find someone who could make the thing run right. Having done several projects since then I have a better equipped shop and should have improved skills for this one. Being a Chev it should not have the distributor and fueling issues of the Ford and be a very drivable vehicle. Very much like my 13 cab. As ugly and cramped a drivers area that the 12 cab has I couldn't resist wanting another 12, I guess because that was it was my first truck. I was told the dog house was taken away and that is some thing that is hard to replace, so I will keep that in mind that you have it. As too the cargo box, I really don't know what to expect till I see it, but you don't make it sound very encouraging. I was also told the tail gate is missing . Time will tell what I need and I may well need to join in on the box fabrication purchase. The recovery is all set up and goes today. Stewart Loy ( Mr goes any where any time ) has volunteered his sevices and I will get some pictures of the adventure. Unfortunately Toronto doesn't get out of bed before noon on sunday, so it will be late in the day before I get back home. Gord |

The truck is home and the day went very well with no snags or hold ups. All four wheels turned and there was no brush or trees to remove, just back the trailor up hook up the winch cable and pull it on. Once again a thank you to Stewart for moving the truck home for me.
Bob, you are right, put me on the list for a new box. The old one is rubbish and not worth trying too rebuild. The old saying is "there is no prize for being last", I'm not convinced that this truck was the prize for being first. It needs a LOT of parts and work, it definitely looks better in pictures than in person. I think that the cab is rebuildable and will be easy to refurbish. The lights and many other fitments are gone and will require some scrounging to locate and replace. This is going to take time just too get everything I need collected and a good work ethic once I get started. The older cab trucks aren't for the feint of heart, are they. Here are a few pictures. I may be coming down on a foraging expedition to see if you and Albert have any spare #12 bits. I thought I was cured of the CMP madness but here we bloody go again! I've been at this so long and getting another 12 cab is like an old guy buying a specific vintage car because it reminds him of his youth. The M-series are pleasing to restore, the Iltis is nice to drive , but the CMP is a BIG piece of history to have. Gord |
