Going to the Townsville 400 hey!
There are lots of WW2 sites on the way and in Townsville. If you are in a 4x4 you can drive onto the beach where there are still bunkers and gun emplacements all overgrown not looked after but very interesting. I don't think many locals even know they are there. Did you meet Col Fether at Corowa this year? (Blitz Ambulance). He showed them to me. About a 10 min drive from the race track. If you get time go to the Kissing point Military Museum in Townsville. There is some nice towns up there. I like Bowen. They filmed the movie Australia there. It was a Catalina base during WW2. Your welcome to drop in and see me. I am about 20 min off the Bruce Highway north west of Brisbane. Cheers Jeff
