Default Gear stick and levers refurbishing

Could someone post for me a similar picture of a refurbished area of a Blitz C15A so I can plan what to do? My pictures as it is today. All operating. Appreciated. Peter

At least the winch handbrake is genuine. The rest isn't too bad except for the transfer case controls.

Default Transfer control lever

Found a Transfer case stick but it is in very poor condition. A lot of rust. Any advice on restotation or do people typically use the stick and re produce to the same pattern?

The transfer case gear lever isn't exactly rare although the gearknob certainly is, at least in usable condition. It has a different (larger) thread to the gearbox one.

Default Transfer Lever and Knob

When you say in bad condition, are you talking about rust pitting along the exposed upper shaft or under the tower ball?

Though the lever knob is a different thread, the Chevy and I suspect the Ford are a standard knob, measured the shaft thread and got a bolt of the same size and made the rounds of the heavy truck parts departments (also try heavy equipment). On the second or third place the parts guy said sure you want white, red, or black.

The donor transfer case lever you have found is from a vehicle with a 2 speed T/case, and the shifter tower is a 3 rail design. The C15A only had a single speed T/case, and the selector lever was a simple 1 throw affair to engage or disengage the front axle. It looks like you have the bent remains of the lever in your first pics! I don't know how bent a Chev lever should be, but here's what a Ford one looks like:

The second picture in post #96 shows the leavers in a C15A, the bent bolt in the background was to change ranges as a two speed transfur case had been added. I left the two speed in and added a tower with an internal guide added so it only moves back and forth to change ranges I had to modify the 4WD leaver under the floor to allow the transmission handbreak work properly.

Got these spare levers and starting to refurbish the one I need. Also got a spare fuel tap though the one I have already looks to be working. Thanks for the guidance.

Default The good news photos are a lucky find

The transfer case lever looks like it will clean up and smooth out well. Hope that all the parts in your transfer case tower were well protected in old grease. Take your time on cleaning and polishing the slide rails and getting these so that they slide easy. It will make all the difference in how well the transfer case shifts. Also take your time getting all the adjustments on the linkages adjusted so that the gears are fully engaged and centered when the detent balls are in there notches. Be careful with the detent balls and springs they need to move smoothly. I had to replace mine one one of my trucks as the balls and springs were rusted. The balls would either catch or the springs were to weak to push them down.

I found that doing the adjustments on the linkages was easiest if I assembled the tower and slides with everything only lightly greased or oiled. You can feel the detents and the action better. Then when everything is correct remove the leaver and shoot the grease in from the top. One other thing if possible adjust the power takeoff for the winch before you put the body on lot easier to see and reach.

When you regrease the assembly think about your temperature range. I made the mistake of greasing up one of mine with two much (filled the tower) real heavy weight grease, wanted to be sure that water could not get to the slides. Problem was when I went to shift the truck in to 4 wheel at -5F the lever would not move.
