Thoughts on the Tail Marking

Al,
I believe that this is the "Frill Neck Lizard" which was the informal squadron insignia of the 3rd Squadron. This squadron was based in the Mediterranean Theatre as part of the Allied Desert Air Force. (later the First Tactical Air Force), supporting the 8th Army.
