Dosent seem a lot for 4 hours of cutting and grinding but it is slowly coming off

Finally Got the C8 motor back from the machinist today
Not overly "impressed" by the experience coming in at just under 30% extra from first price estimate with a raft of problems arising in its reconstruction

I remember when I last had a Chev motor reconditioned. I recall they couldn't remove the harmonic balancer from the crankshaft and had to source another one, certainly made it cost more.

Then when the engine was back in the truck it forever had a knock in it. They then went out of business.

But that was in the 1970s, around 1976 if I recall. I still have the engine which is in a 46 Chev truck. One day (if it is not full of rust) I'll find a good use for it. As I remember we drove the truck for less than a year.
