ok an update on this carrier, Antonio sent me a few pictures of it, a few things dont add up perhaps Nigel may clarify, but from my limited knowlege it appears to be a Mk1 fitted out with Mk2 bits, the front gunners plate is one peice without the fold down section (i thought this was mk2) the gauge is Mk2, the fender skirts appear not to be correct, nevertheless a really nice carrier, hope he gets what he wants for it !

We need to know the true number and date of manufacture stamped on the top front armour plate.

It certainly appears to be a Mk1 and if the head lights are correct of Canadian manufacture.

The Mk11 components are probably a post war add on.

So he is looking for 45,000 euro for the vehicle?

yes, says he may have another up for sale shortly, we will have to wait and see what comes of this one, an awfull lot of money though

It is always very difficult and at the same time one can't help but try and label carriers of this sort. As Neil suggests the only way of finding out which model of carrier this was manufactured as, is by its stamping numbers and even then it will only show the type it was ordered as. If for instance its numbers showed it to be part of a production of say 1000 MkI carriers but that sometime mid production the manufacturer changed to the MkII spec then did they stop the MkI before starting the MkII? Or did the MkI carry on with MkII parts until all MkI parts were used?
As far as the fixed side armour is concerned, early drawings show fixed armour on early MkI carriers, mine has fixed armour on its original front armour. Another upgrade within the MkI production?
Its all very interesting but it is great to see carriers "coming out" so to speak! The price? It only takes one but excessive I think. Its the price I would put on mine (because I didn't want to sell it!!) lol
