Default dodges

The WW2 Dodge pictured looks like one of the ex Mt. Baw Baw ski field buses . They are 3/4 ton weapons carriers with chassis extended , and with a bus body fitted . The drivers were usually students on part time jobs during the ski season , driving skiers up the the slopes of Mt. Baw Baw... and the trucks were thrashed ! The mountain is local to me and there was another of the buses in town here for years , they were overall yellow. BTW there is snow on Mt.Baw Baw right now ... the earliest heavy snow fall for decades... even a ski lift running I believe.

I think the Chevy post borer Gordon spotted is probably the one from Pakenham, there was one sat in a yard there for many years , visible from the main highway into town. There was another one , actually still on the road in the late 70's , around Ferntree Gully, it had reg. prefix JJ from 1946.

Mike, with that early snowfall on the mountain maybe we've licked global warming.

Default Auction today

Well it was a small reunion of MLU members and Corowa attendees at Nar Nar Goon today. A great catch up.
Plenty of very rusty CMPs and other period trucks. Scrappies were out in force.
Well no photos at the moment because my card reader isn't working but can people tell me, what did the Dodge weapons carrier go for? And the rear engined CMP chassis/crane go for?
I left with an overburdened Falcon before hand. Forgot all about them.

Here some pictures.
The Dodge weapons carrier. What was the price?
The rear engined CMP chassis crane.

The bargin of the day in my book. A M3 Grant tank track and a M3 Stuart tank track. $220.

A Generator trailer with a bunch of POW can holders and Jack holders. It could hold six I think! Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the scrappies get this?? $480?

And some of the canvas window covers shared between Keith, Euan, Colin, Julian, an unknown buyer and myself.

Thanks Keith.
Fox chassis? Is that the same as the 8446 Rhino chassis?

Some more pics.
My Falcon with a full boot.
One of the many ex-israeli M37s.
Blitz with a trailer. Missed the price.
An example of what most of the Blitz's looked like.
And the best of the lot. $820. F30s?

Default Auction results

Hi All,

Hope quite a few of you who went to the auction rescued something

Did anyone see what the Rogers float and Cat D4 went for? Any pics of the Rogers?

Was this the property beside the hotel that had a Stuart tank with very unusual markings in the corner of the paddock pointing at the Pub?

Also the Auctioneers site had a photo which included what may have been a yellow painted compressor on 4 wheels. Did anyone checkout what it was?

Keith will you be putting a lot of pics up on your site?

Thanks & Regards

Alex

Yes, one and the same.

The yellow one was a late production F60L I think.

The one with the simulated bow front trailer was either an ambulance or No6 arty tractor as it had the speaking tube in the back of the cab.

B*******S! I think Ashley Wilson has the remains of one of these, but not nearly as complete. it looks like POW can holders along the left side, but the clamps on the right side (nearest to the camera) look like the LP2A Jack holders, the 6 of those would have been worth $480!

Yes there were a few of us there.

Did you notice anything unusual about CMP chassis crane? The axles are wider because it is a FOX armoured car chassis. Don't recall exactly how much it made but was well under $1k. The scrappies got almost all the CMPs as well as NOS Studebaker parts. The Dodge was likewise very cheap but I don't think the scrappies got it. Incidentally they were very compliant chaps, letting collectors buy when they thought it better something deserved to be restored.
The searchlight trailer was a beaut but the scrappies got it.

More soon including some pics. I took heaps!
