Well, not actually a relative
But I did film him a couple of years ago... and it's my sad duty to let you know WGCDR Bobby Gibbes, DSO, DFC and Bar, died today.
Bobby was indeed an Ace, and served as CO of 3 Squadron RAAF in the Western Desert. He was one of our main WW2 heroes, full of courage and skill. He once put his aircraft down to save a fellow pilot, shot down near a German airfield. An amazing man.
