I doubt The Purists on this forum would think "a diesel engine might just be a neat substitute for the original engine". The reason why they have not posted a remark here yet is probably because they are trying to come to again

Anyhow, there is a Chevrolet 15-cwt with "Perkins 90hp diesel on Chevy transmission" for sale in the UK, so apparently that conversion works somehow.
I've also seen a 15-cwt with a Bedford diesel engine, which I have been told is related to the Bedford 6-cyl engine which in turn is related to the stovebolt six again.

Just some possibilities to let The Purists have a fainting fit!
