Carrier buyers guide

Hello all,

The universal carrier has always fascinated me for as long as i can remember but i've always dismissed the thought of owning one due to the hassles of operating a tracked vehicle. Can anyone list any pointers on the down side of carriers??? parts availability etc??? what to look for in a possible purchase???
