Cap Badge ID

Good afternoon all. A relative passed on this cap badge to me and I was wondering if anyone could give me a little information on it. I note the word "Royal" is absent, is this a WWI badge?
Also, can anyone direct me to sites regarding Canadian cap badges, collar dogs, shoulder patches, etc. I have several basic books but am looking for colour photos.
