News: Small earthquake hits eastern Canada
An earthquake hit southern Quebec province, in eastern Canada near the US border, causing no damage, according to the Geological Survey of Canada.
The epicenter of the 4.2-magnitude quake, which hit Monday morning, was located some 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) from Huntington, a small town near the Canada-US border, south of Montreal.
About 300 tremors are recorded in eastern Canada each year. Most seismic activity on this stable North American continental tectonic plate is slight, ranking less than four degrees on the Richter scale.
