I have seen GM of C's printed version of this photo but here's the original...wish I knew its date...

AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURE - OSHAWA, ONT. The last civilian passenger car to be built in the General Motors plant during World War II rolls off the assembly line. 90 percent of the plant's capacity was turned over to war equipment, remainder being devoted to construction of badly needed trucks.

It was probably taken around the beginning of February 1942 but military passenger cars continued to be assembled until June 1942. Note the painted hubcaps but perhaps for the camera this last car has a chromed rather than silver-painted bumper compared with the last '42 'Blackout' US cars.

This final civilian Chevrolet car appears to be either a a 1227 Sport Coupe or 1211 Town Sedan. 2XXXX06048 was the final 192121902916 42 passenger car. The highest known '42 Canadian Chev still with us is # 2121902916 , Body # 729, a 4-door sedan.

The last civilian Canadian Ford was of course a Mercury and I think it came off the Windsor line towards the end of January, 1942.
