Giovanni Hakkenberg, Ridder Militaire Willems-Orde der 4e klasse
"Marine Sergeant Hakkenberg fought with the Netherlands Marine Brigade in East Java in 1948 and 1949 until the Indonesian army became too strong. It was during this period that he received the Knight in the Military Order of William 4th Class. After this he ended up in New Guinea, where he trained the Papuan army." The photo shows Sergeant Hakkenberg as patrol commander in Dutch New Guinea. Sergeant Hakkenberg is standing in front a Dodge Power Wagon. These were delivered as civilian chassis/cabs and the wooden body was made and fitted by KNIL workshops in Indonesia. 2158_080230 (1).jpg
