I agree that it looks like Bubba had a hand in your boxes' fate.
The majority of the holes seem to be "aftermarket" (but there are a couple of holes for a brace for the mud flap and other details). Based on Bob Carriere's originals, the hinges are riveted to the box structure and door (same style riveting as on your hasps and I think the door should be on the other (inner) side of the hinge).
