Antenna
Also, noticed the antenna/base folded over to the horizontal position. And, the other vehicle parked to the Right of the Canadian carrier.
The SLV note says it is 1942 but I reckon some of these dates are guesses by whoever is digitizing the pic. The VDC was eventually disbanded , before the war's end. The VDC also had youths in the ranks, these kids were too young too enlist in the AMF. The electronics teacher at Boronia Tech mentioned to me, as a 15 year old he was in the Queenscliff VDC unit - Dads army he called it.
