I have not seen those markings, but may be able to help decipher some of it.
The MC prefix on MC4730 often refers to British artillery accessories. For instance,a can, lubricating on a Bofors is a CM2404. The 30HD engine likely refers to 30 weight motor oil. Perhaps the can is originally an issued item with some form of motorized artillery or for a generator associated with artillery? Anyway, that's my take on it.
