Harry,
You can get just about anything on the rims if you are only operating at low speed off road. Once you start on the road or on the beach or anywhere with low pressures you run the risk of rolling them off the 6 1/2 inch rims. Modern radial tyres require wide base rims whereas old style tyres required much narrower rims for the same sidewall width. According to the Tyre and Rim Association handbook (the legal standard manual for all Australian states) a 305 width modern tyre has a minimum 8 inch rim up to 9 1/2 while a 315 width has 8 1/2 up to 10 inch rim requirement. If you want to stay legal you will not find a modern radial tyre as wide, let alone wider, than the original 9.00x16 that can use the blitz rims. I think best you can do is 8.25x16 equivilent which is narrower than what you started with. Lang Last edited by Lang; 10-07-13 at 00:59. |
