Would there be a display somewhere nearby of some of the artefacts?
David,

Hundreds of planes crashed on Dutch soil during WW2. There are two groups nearby that focus on WW2 aircraft recovery and recently they decided to join hands. Both are in the Schiphol region and both could be visited with a rental car.

Here are their websites:

http://crash40-45.nl/ (Aalsmeerderbrug, very close to Schiphol)

http://www.arg1940-1945.nl/ (Fort Veldhuis, near Heemskerk)

There are probably more groups in the country and museums that display crashed aircraft, including "Deelen reserach group" and Aviodrome in Lelystad.

Alex
