They took mah CMP!
Before I really realized what a CMP truck was, I remembered seeing one out on the Yukon Canol Road (The remains of an old pipeline built by the Canadian and US Army in WWII, now an awesome off-road trail and graveyard for countless military trucks). After realizing what it was, drove up there again to get a better look and see if there was any way I'd be able to get it out. (Technically, the trucks are considered historical artifacts and can't be moved, but sometimes if you present a plan to restore it, they'll let you take one-most are too far gone for that, but still).
However, when I got there, all I found was grass, gravel and old tire tracks where the CMP was. I figured someone had beat me to it. But, when Googling for some pics of the road for another forum, I happened to find out where it ended up-the Yukon Transportation Museum dragged it out and is currently restoring it. I wonder if they need any volunteers...at least, I can't wait to see it once its done. |
