Sorry, its not a Scammell, its a Tasker of Andover 6-8 Ton Ball coupling, about 7000 were built
My photographs below are of a Commer Q2 tractor towing a Queen Mary trailer. If you look closely one can see this one is detachable, however, just like the one in the picture you posted.
