Canadian Archives Films
I have been trying for years now to find the original movie film taken in October 1940 in the CMD Southampton of C30s being assembled. Stills are in Dr Gregg's 'Blueprint for Victory'.
Quote:
Thank you for your email of 28th February 2003 requesting information about an original 1940 film owned by the National Film Board of Canada relating to the assembly of military vehicles. You mention that you now think it may be found in Canadian Army News, Canadian Military News or Canadian News reels and further, you enquire as to what level of detail exists for the contents of these reels
In response to you request, I have consulted our on-line electronic database under some your keywords, finding a huge number of what could be relevent references for your request. For example for the keywords "Canadian Army News 1940" there were nine matches. One, entitled "Mechanized Units Abroad (ISN: 22953) has this description, "Production and test driving of Canadian Army vehicles at a factory in Canada. In this clip, workers are busy assembling vehicles on an assembly line. An armoured personnel carrier is tested on wet ground. M.S.s of rows of vehicles being paraded on factory grounds" while the others have no description, only the date. There are National Film Board films as well as other companies such as the film mentioned above which was created by Fox Movietone News.
