Default Japanese parts used on Chevrolet CMP's in WW2?

My Dad who served in India, Burma and South East Asia during the war suggested that some engine parts & other bits from Japanese trucks that he found, could also be used on his CMP. Was there anything that would match a Chevrolet C60 say from a Toyota KB? I have been told that the USA licenced vehicle production in Japan in the 1930's so many vehicles produced in Japan were copies of US designs. So was the Toyota KB a re-badged Chevrolet? Presumably there were also common parts for Ford CMPs?
