Default Colour-RAAF Wireless Tender?

Guys I am building an RAAF 1941 Holden bodied Chev in 1/35 scale and was wondering if they were painted the same bronze green as the Australian Army vehicles or did the RAAF, like the RAF, have their own colour?

Cheers
Cliff

The RAAF still had a fair bit of WW2 gear left when I joined in 1957.

None appeared to have been painted since produced, the dark blue was the common colour, with yellow appearing on airfield vehicles.

As a matter of fact, we came to see Khaki, only when we too started to play games, when the airfield defense guards came into being.

Someone told me your wheel chair is in camo, that should set the tone.

Your models show a high level of work, great to see, sometimes it is the only way some things will be preserved.

Did you ever get your money back from Canada.

Regards

Col

Default for your information

I emailed Mike Cecil at the Australian War Museum in Canberra and he replied that the RAAF vehicles were painted #3 Khaki, the same as the Army vehicles of the time.

Hi Cliff:

May I assume you are using the LRDG Tamiya Chev as a base??
Do you need more "materiel" yet??

I should PM this but just to let everyone know why I was offline for 10 days, Pat and I just did 8 days in Hawaii, our first vacation in 3 years. Sorry, mate, Australia is on the list next but at least we got about halfway there.

As a matter of fact, our cabin mates next door turned out to be a Managing Director of a big tour company in OZ and his family and he offered to cut us a hell of a deal when we decide to go down under which we will follow up on.

Cheers
Bill

Bill nice to have you back. Did you get the photos I emailed on the Roy models kit?

I am using the LRDG Chev kit but have had to stop due to lack of closed cab GMC cabs to convert. So some resin arrived yesterday so I will attempt to cast some today depending on health.

Supplies are OK for now but soon I will be looking for some Italeri CMP Chev 15cwt kits again. Next on the list is either a #8 or #9 Aussie Gun FAT.

cheers
Cliff
