Revisiting the three locations where the B.S.F. 1/2” slotted nut appears on Canadian MK-I* and MK-II* Universal Carriers.

How typical. The whole bloody gearbox has UNC threads and then some Wally decides to put a BSF thread on their new gear lever.

Common sense Lynn, so there was commonality with the British Carrier, which the Canadian one was copied from. In the field it made sense to keep parts interchangeable.

It is a right (deleted) when your wish list requires two. Not so much the initial cost, the postage adds up!

A package or two of these BSF slotted nuts in 5/16”, 3/8” and 1/2” are handy, as well as the ones made of brass for the brake housing. Speaking of big nuts, the eight 7/16” BSF required on the front towing/lifting eyes can be added to the list. Even better is a supply of the 7/16” slotted flat head countersunk bolts. Proper Thackeray spring washers, the ones with the offset, are a bonus too ! Last edited by Michael R.; 20-07-20 at 17:32. |

Adams Supply Ltd in Winnipeg used to carry BSF Hardware a few years back. That was where I used to get my Carrier BSF items. I think there might be a $10.00 order minimum.

A few places, it may depend on where you wish to order from. British Fasteners in Lyon, NY, USA hold stock. EBay.co.uk, ... multiple UK based sellers.
