M4 Sherman Tank lifting hooks

Would anyone happen to know the inner diameter and approx. steel thickness of the turret lifting hooks located on the rear sides of the turret? I'm guessing about a 3" diameter donut hole and a 1.5" thick cast steel ring. Never thought to measure one of these when I've been on the real McCoy. Thx, Patrick

Patrick this I a lifting ring on the M4A3E2 turret as well as one cut from the same model

I will check the other style turrets today at the shop to verify if they are the same on the 75mm turret as well as the standard 76mm version...hope this helps!

David....not only in my future, my past and I suspect my next life...my wife said that I prefer the sound of grinding metal to music...she may be right

Thank you very much for posting so many photos, they are all very helpful. it would appear 2-3/4" was common for the opening with 1-1/2" (3/4" radius) for the steel ring.
