			Hi Guys

Came across this site showing an interesting way to view some D-Day photos. Beginning with the second photo, click on it and the photo morphs into what the place looks like today. ![]() ![]() ![]() http://www.theatlantic.com/infocus/2...nd-now/100752/ Cheers Tony

In the collection of original pictures #12 could be a significant one, it is of a piper disembarking a landing craft. The caption is of Commando troops on Sword Beach June 6, could that be Bill Millin heading for Pegasus Bridge?

I saw a documentary some years ago about the film crews who shot many of the photos at that time. Photo # 11 was actually taken on June 7 and not on D-Day. The weather had gotten worst on June 7 with high waves. The film shot shows a landing craft being swamped by a large wave and sinking and the rescue of the personnel from that craft. The photo is a still from that film sequence.

Ref. Photo #3. One of the comments I seen about the movie Saving Privet Ryan was that the US Rangers did not land using Higgins boats, but were carried by Canadian crewed LCA’s. Last edited by John McGillivray; 14-06-14 at 14:38. |
