			Hi all,

I'm new to these great trucks, and have just acquired a F60s (thanks to Keith for clearing that up). it had been sitting under a tree for the last 17 years, so the tinworm has had a bit of a head start, but nothing some panel steel and perseverance won't fix. I got it running last week, but only had 1st-2nd, and they're heavier than they look when you have to push them backwards... after some surgery on the transmission I found that the selector shafts were seized, so I freed them up, but I think I'm missing some parts for the reverse lockout system. Does anyone have some photos of their shift tower/reverse lockout components so that I can compare mine? Blair

Hi Blair, welcome to MLU and the wonderful world of CMP ownership! Look forward to some pics of your project in due course. Here's a few of the reverse gear lockout mechanism, which is commonly missing or rusted solid after decades outdoors. You'll probably have to find a complete gear lever, try posting in the Wanted section here. Something else I'd recommend is a Ford workshop manual, they crop up on ebay occasionally or someone here may have a spare copy. Cheers, Tony

			Hello Blair,

All gear shift levers with reverse lock-out are the same as the civilian Ford trucks of the 1940s. This is not a special military made item. This information should make it easier for you to find a shift lever. Regards, Dale |

			Hi Tony, Dale

Thanks heaps for that information, I am missing a few bits of mine, interesting about the shifter being a common part throughout many models... I do have the Ford MB-F1 workshop manual, or parts of it. didn't really show me what I needed to see in the transmission section though. I was looking for parts the other day and came across a company called VanPelt sales, they specialise in Ford running gear parts of this era. do you know whether they are any good? Cheers, Blair

I think you will find them to be very good. They have a good web site, and Mr Vanpelt has been helpful on the Fordbarn forum.
