I am currently making a gun port cover for a Windsor and have a question about the flap. Was it originally folded from a piece of 3/8" plate or were the wings welded on?
Restored carriers often seem to be the latter but I would have thought it would be folded in the same way as the main cover. I assume it is the same as a Mk2 carrier. Any help gratefully received! ![]()

Hi Adrian,
I borrowed malcom Caleys Mk2 gun port plate to make one for a Mk1 carrier without the hinged flap. I thougt the Windsors had this type of plate without the flap. I have an original Mk1 1943 gun port plate you are welcome to borrow but I am sure malcolm will lend you his. I think also the T16 gun port plate is different too.

Hi Kevin,
the early Windsor had no flap but later ones did. I have made the cover, I just need a definative answer on the flap. I would prefer to copy a known original rather than copy a copy if you know what I mean! I'll perhaps slip and look at Malcolms and make a decision. Regards, Adrian
