Hi Denes:

Sadly, I can offer nothing more for the moment but my book says that Ostner was taken over by Faun in 1956.

You might try contacting their PR department to see if they have any info they could share with you.

Thanks, Bill, for the hint.
I just sent an e-mail to FAUN GmbH.
http://www.faun.de/

Judged by my previous experience in dealing with the wartime activity of German companies, chances for a substantial reply are rather slim.

Hi Denes:
Yes...I know so well that frustration although more with American companies in my earlier days.
I assume you are fluent in German, which I am not, and that sometimes helps. Also that you have some bonafides as an historian, even if an as yet unpublished one I guess.

Keep on truckin' and I will as well.

Unfortunately, my German knowledge is spotty, at best. However, I can work myself through German text.

As for my editorial career, so far I have written or co-authored 13 books, mostly related to aviation history, though.

Here is a web site listing my books:

Wow Denes!!!!

I am very impressed.
Over the years, I have been mentioned on the inside of quite a few books as a contributor, amongst many others, but never as an author or co-author

I hope you included that link in your communication with Faun.

And, like you, I can read "military" and "vehicle" German pretty well due to all of the books, magazines and so on that I have collected over the years. But...to write a letter in German would be totally beyond my skills.
