Default Tube - control change speed: length?

Dear friends
Any one are able to tell me the correct length of the tube connecting and riveted to the two ends (each end have 2 rivets) of gear shift lever system ?
The best measure is taken , probably, from de center of the first rivet (the first from the front of UC) to the center of forth one (nearer to the back of UC).
I hope that you all understand what I am asking !
Our connection (tube) rotten away after more than 39 years on a military depot
Thanking in advance
Joćo

This question may have been asked before, this may meet your needs.
The bolded text dimensions are as measured. The tube length could vary slightly, however: the critical distance between the bolt holes are as found.

(thanks 🦅 eye)

I made a jig to drill these correctly, it’s certainly worth doing if you intend to make new tubes.

Hi Joćo,

I second what Richie said. I made a new tube from Michael R's dimensions, but I don't think I got the hole alignment quite right and so the gear change lever doesn't align with the gear gate properly.

Good luck

Tom

Thanks Tom !

I am probably wrong but at first sight my two holes from each side (on both sides) are not at 90 degrees, as on the drawing. I must see it more carefully

I think to make one adjustable system to correct all the relations between the gear change lever and the opposite end at the gearbox. The major and principal forces are applyed along the length of the big bar, not sideways. So it is not difficult to make such a system.

Let’s keep in touch, and sorry for my broken English.

Joćo
