... «* when in doubt , dismount ! «* Awesome and so naive at the same time about the nature of what they had to face for real in combat . Brave men. Panzerfaust fodder . Imagine coming so close to the ennemy that you could trow a grenade at him... in a very slightly armoured vehicle ! Good film , gives a good idea about doctrine and training lagging battlefield experience . No wonder so many were sacrificed in Normandy.Fortunately the later Kangooroos offered more protection when closing up with the ennemy. Nice , the many ways the Bren and the mortar are employed . Amazing crew coordination .

Yes, neat way they shorten the Bren pogo stick and double the Bren barrel box for 2” mortar rounds.

Nice piece of training footage.

Youtube also threw up this in the right hand column:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yHmbpuHWQg

About the 'Carrier, Tank-Attack, 2-pdr' which was at Littlefields.

Pity the voice/presenter doesn't have a clue about Australian carriers! I think I've seen the same presenter doing a number on an Australian-operated Centurion held by the museum in Cairns, too, and was just as horrified by his lack of appreciation of the finer points.

Oh well ....

Mike

Mike, That’s interesting vid, I like the way they have moved the engine to the front although more exposed but looks easier to work on. Best bit is the gun crew folding seats in front of the shield, so neat.

What a fantastic film. After watching it (about a dozen times) I will no longer apologize if I make bumpy starts or stops while driving my carrier. What I won't do is dismount from the commander's position by placing my hands on the front left fender and rolling forward to the ground like the guy does about 3 minutes in.
