Default "If Day" in Manitoba

Not carrier restoration, but carriers as part of the story.

"How to scare the residents of Winnipeg and sell volumes of War Bonds" - dress up like Nazis and parade in carriers. Look at the front windshields.

There is a series of these photos in archives from the Winnipeg Free press. They also had guys in the Reich uniforms asking common folk for their papers.

Neat to see the early carriers. I have driven my own carrier down those streets during the VE day parade. It was the first major drive for my carrier, prior to that it drove from the shop to the loading dock in Moosejaw where I loaded it onto the back of an MLVW and drove it to Winnipeg while towing my KL behind. Trust me, that was a very long and slow trip. We unloaded at Kapyong, headed under police escort to polo park, then downtown for the parade, over to the forks, and back to Kapyong. Carrier didn't skip a beat.
