Default Toyota 2FQ15

Well I picked her up today for a couple of hundred bucks.
Now just need an engine, gearbox and a bit of TLC.
Pretty good nick actually and I plan on returning her to the original soft top version.

Soooo, the question now is has anyone in Oz got a lead to the availability of the running gear. I am looking for an early "F" motor (not 2F or 3F) and four speed gearbox.
Unfortunately, a lot of these were left to rot after people removed them to put a chev V8 in a lot of the old cruisers.

Cheers.

Congratulations
Got a fairly rare girl there John

Should have bought it about 3 months ago though I sold a complete early FJ40 with F motor and box ideal for donor as body was rusty but rest was good

Another good site to get on for Toyota gear is IH8MUD forum http://forum.ih8mud.com/

Bugger!
I was looking at it a couple of months ago, but only got around to buying it recently. Oh well, thems the breaks.
Apparently there may have been only about 13 of these brought to Oz to try to sell to the Oz army, but never took off. This one (apart from mtor and gearbox) was well preserved due to well made custom hard top. This protected the interior and guages very well. It should be easy to convert back to original canvas top.

Cheers mate.

F 110 motor is needed.
Extremely rare in this country.
Unless you import one ( still hard to find ) you will not find one.
The gear box was similar to the set up in a WW2 dodge weapons carrier/M37.
Would be easier to install a 2F motor and later transmission and may be a two speed transfercase instead of the single speed item.
In inside of the cabin and some fittings very closely match dodge M37.
Standard wheels were 20 inch.

There was a restored one around Cooma way in 2007, probably still around.

Unfortunately the link to the image is now broken.

It was one of the trials ones imported by Thiess.
