Looking for a belt of 7.62 Nato linked rounds for a 1919 gpmg. Specifically, deact ammo, not practice rounds. Would also entertain blanks.
Willing to horse trade, barter or pay cash as always...

Theoretically, linking the post war designed 7.62 GPMG links in a belt longer than 5 rounds is a prohibited device here in Canada. The long gun registry will soon be gone, but we have a lot more stupidity to sort out yet. You can also use the older 30-06 links from the GPMGs. They are exempt from the cartridge regulations. As well, they will be a better fit with any dewat or semi automatic 1919 you find, unless you go converting one to C5A1 configuration (very hard to do...the pieces are not common).
If you don't find any links closer to home, I should be able to fix you up from here. Dummy 7.62 is harder to find, I only have 20 or so rounds myself. If you know anyone who reloads, drill out a couple hundred spent casings, and have him put new bullets onto the cases. It'll be far easier than trying to find all those dummy rounds. |

Thanks Rob, I never considered the stupidity of the FA with regards to display of dummys on a dewat..30-06 it will be.

Link above is Collector's Source in Canada. They have all plastic bullets that you could place into a metal or cloth belt for display. Got some a few years ago since even here in Texas, there are some venues where they don't want weapons displayed with demilled ammunition. Stuff looks good and is cheap.

Rob, I heard that theory several months ago and just about fell off my chair.
I recently asked two gunsmiths who are approved to de-activate full autos and they had never heard of it and both started to laugh. I also asked an admin type at the OPP about it and she had never heard anything about it. I was very concerned about it having many weapons that require belts for display purposes. Maybe I am naive but I'm not sure this applies??? If am out in left field, somebody please straighten me out. Al |

So, to open up a can or worms here, theoretically, 50bmg belted would fall into the same category...
This becomes a real grey area as we are talking live vs dummy or deact ammo. But, if you loaded a 20 rd magazine with live or dummy ammo it would be prohibited either way....mags over 5 rds are prohibited 7.62 single MG links on their own are OK up to 5 linked, after that they become a prohibited device because of when they were born... .30cal, 7.92 etc is OK a mile long.... Stupidity
