Hi Mike,
In the Netherlands we can get Kangaroo steaks and they are indeed very tasty. Look here for recipes: http://www.kangaroo-industry.asn.au/...cipe_frame.htm Now we have this Ozzie at our shooting club who says it is dog food, or road kill. If he would tell his relatives down under they would be laughing at him. I do not mind, ship it to here. It is cheap and delicious. ![]() Cheers,

I've shot and dressed deer, elk and pronghorn antelope. The anatomy of a 'roo is different. So, for the sake of illucidation, where are the edible parts on a kangaroo?

we get plenty of game up here..so I think perhaps Kanga might be a nice alternative...checked it out on Google and there is a supplier in Shropshire but its not that cheap..might wait until LiDL or Aldi start selling it...had a nice big Herring Gull once on a E & E jaunt and being the youngest sprog in the Sqn had to eat it in front of the assembled men...BM didnt like it when I did an Oliver Twist and asked for more to great applause from the men..guess who had to play the part of the captured soldier in the resistance to interogation lectures that followed..my face was balck and blue for a week...these days still fancy the odd herring gull or two...must be the continenal in me...cheers malcolm

@Grame:
That qualifies as the most illuminating response I think I've ever experienced on the net. From the skeletal structure, the Kangaroo is similar to most of the ungulates (deer, elk, antelope) I've butchered. The tail of course is completely different. The cuts look like ones I would carve off with my knives. The differences are in the size and shape of the cuts I would chose. I like the look of those numbers for fat percentage, free range, and zero antibiotic content. I always think the same about the deer I shoot, but those are absolute numbers that are beyond comparison. Thank you. And, if you read this in English thank your teachers! Five nations (CAN, US, UK, AUS and NZ) separated by a common language, but closer to brothers than any other alliance.
