Hello from Barry's Bay, On.
I just joined this site as I now plan to " FIX UP " my old girl. Not to new condition but to a good looking driver. Firstly I am looking for new tires and I have no idea where to begin my search so I would really appreciate someones help. I think they are 700x16. Any other helpful thoughts or information would also be welcomed. Thanks Howard |

I picked mine up from Wallace Wade at the MVPA convention this summer. The tires are modern made by Specialty tires of America. They run about $110 or so each. I did find a Cdn STA dealer, but his prices are incredibly high.
If you can find a STA dealer near the US border, you can order some and bring them through customs yourself. Or, you can wait until next summer's MVPA convention and buy them there. The convention will be held AUg 4-6 in Dayton Ohio. There you will be able to find just about anything you want or need for a M38A1. |

Welcome to the gang! There are a half-dozen M38A1 owners in the Ottawa area. Although we aren't really "organized" we enjoy each other's company here and periodically at Gracie O'Malley's pub for social calls.
The US has all sorts of retailers. Our dollar is strong and Ogdensburg NY is just about the closest UPS depot to the line. We have other guys here who have parts for sale. Ask. FWIW, I have a 67 M38A1 parts jeep if you need any major components or sheet metal. Send me a PM if you want it. There is another MLU regular who has/had a repro body for sale here recently.

I will eventually be bringing my CDN2 to Ottawa as well, when they finally realize I haven't been posted to the mother ship yet!
STA NDCC 700x16's are also available from Collector's Auto Supply in Kelowna, B.C., but they are asking $127US, plus tubes if you need them, plus shipping on the Greyhound. So probably cheaper to cross the border and get some if you have the time (although it's a bit of a hike from Barry's Bay, isn't it?). If I could find a distributor in northern Washington state, I would get them there myself!

Thanks to all of you
I called Specialty Tires and they have a dealer in Daytona where I spend the winter. I will likely trailer my old girl down so I have something to tinker at. Would any of you know the paint code or colour that was used on these units? Thanks again |
