if you remember thats just about what mine looked like after the smashup that it got here, but that one in the pic would have been much easier to fix than mine. after the wreck both of my axles were touching.

Help Wanted. I know a few of us own a 1944 morris. [ Dave] Does any one know when the 1944 Morris C8 GS 4X4 was made and the numbers made. All i can find out, it was made in late 1944. under Contract S6450. My Morris is a late one having a Metal body not the wooden one. Army number Z5812885. Chassis Number 22833363 and has 2199 on most parts of the truck. it had its overhall in 1953 at Base Workshop MT RS B385 any one know were that was?

As far as I can see, your C8GS is from the first contract, which was in 1944. If you think that it should have had a wooden body, it could easily have been swapped during overhaul, or sometime since. I think that the details on your rebuild plate mean as follows; MTRS ; Mechanical Transport Repair Scheme B385 ; was an Army Auxillary Workshop, which was actually contractors who repaired and overhauled for the government, usually garages and others in the motor trades. have never found the list of who they were, despite trying REME Museum, reckon the Public Records Office is the only chance of finding out.
