Default Horn

It's 6v standard Ford type horn for the era.

Default horn

On our 1940 F60H, there is a very long horn (longer than the chev one) and located under the cab mounted on the chassis, I think you should have one of these. Look at the picture for location. (Ford only)

Eric,

If you have changed your vehicle to 12 volt your horn will still work fine (it won't burn out or anything like that)

Just get a couple of wires to a 12 volt battery and touch the terminals to test it. You can now use the little adjusting screw to "tune" the instrument. 12 volt will make the diaphram move faster and slightly further. Tiny adjustments to the screw will arrive at the correct gap and perfect note - just touch wire- adjust, touch wire - adjust until it is in full cry.

You can go back the other way like this with a 12 volt horn to 6 volt system.

Smile Bonjour Eric

I will attempt to open a LONG horn and look again at the inside. I think the Meld [melt] Is the sealing on the end of a resistor. Will try and get a pic and post it ok

Default Working? the horn on your truck or?????

The wonderful steaks that those last Two 4 legged Horn carriers posted By Lynn will make on a barberque!!.

Question for Dirk or Stefan, Can you buy the Short projecter as a seperate part and replace the Long projector just by unbolting the old one and re bolting the new one.
Looking at the Two part numbers the early CAB 11 and the later cab 13, the last part of the Horn part number is the same?.
As the Long horn works but only needs a short projector seems sense to just swap the front section.
Any thoughts on the practicality please.
