Dieppe Day
Just found these 'photos on a disk, escuse the quality as they were taken on an old digital that had a max res of 640x480!. The Sea Cadet unit, TS Glory, that I used to be an instructor with; parades every year for the Canadian Veterans of the Dieppe Raid at Wisborough Green in Sussex near to where the HQ was at the time.
At one time they stood sentry with reversed arms at the church doors and at the cenotaph, but it's not PC now to carry rifles and bayonets in public. The only Cadet Unit that I know of that has two Remembrance Days

last one.
The "Canada" wreath is laid by a serving officer from the High Commission in London, the others by the various veterans associations and Royal British Legion. The Cadets started doing this parade in order to represent the Royal Navy and have carried on doing so since 1949.

Thanks
Thanks Carman,
It was not one of the units 'compulsory parades' like Trafalgar Day and Remembrance Day, so all the cadets that turn out volunteer to do so. One year a cadet missed a chance to play inter-county rugby to do this, so I guess that for some of them,as well as the staff, it was important. I know that the visiting officer from the Canadian forces and veterans all appreciated the guesture.
